Following Porsche Club Victoria’s successful 4 Hour Relay at Sandown last February and a straw poll of competitors at the last Club night, it has been decided to conduct a SIX Hour Relay in February 2011.
The Event will be held on the 27th February at Sandown International Raceway and with the help of Porsche Australia will be open to interstate Porsche Clubs. Depending on numbers, the event may also be open to other clubs.
The Event will be conducted in a similar manner to last year’s event but with a few changes.
We can have as many as 45 teams with each team consisting of 4 to 6 members.
The cost per team will be $900.
Because we are conducting a six hour relay in one day due to track availability, timing will be of the essence and a tight schedule must be maintained. With the co operation of Porsche Cars Australia, scrutineering for most teams will be held at the Porsche Centre in Victoria Parade on the Thursday night as will a team managers’ briefing.
This will cut down the time spent on Sunday morning both for Officials and Competitors.
Practice will run from 9.15am until 10.30am. The Event will run from 11.00 am to 5.00pm.
To make sure that this event is viable, we need to have expressions of interest from teams to us no later than 31st August along with a non refundable deposit of $200 as long as the Event goes ahead. This will ensure your place in the event and give us the confidence to go ahead. You do not need to know who your team members are at this time. That can be decided later. All we need to know is that you are a team.
This looks like being a great Event for the club and as other Relays have been quickly sold out, I would suggest you get in early before we decide whether or not to let other car clubs enter.
